DVD-Audio players are rapidly penetrating the home market. But production
of DVD-A titles for market has been bottlenecked by a lack of efficient, appropriate,
and costeffective tools for authoring. Minnetonka Audio Software have introduced
a highlyoptimized DVD-Audio production system, Aplus! The playback circuitry
is nearly identical, so DVD-Audio playback capability is a feature of an ever-increasing
number of DVD players at nearly every price point. DVD-Audio presently competes
in the market with a format known as "SACD" (Super Audio CD). SACD
is championed exclusively by Sony and Phillips, while DVD-Audio is an industry-wide
standard. SACD discs must be manufactured, and then only at certain plants
that have the requisite special equipment.

drives are primarily intended for professional and prosumer DVD content producers,
but, like CDR, there will be archiving applications emerging for permanent, unalterable
storage. There are 2 formats within the standard, one for Authoring and a
second for General Purpose, which will emerge as the general market technology.
Media for these drives is exclusive to each for recording. The technology
was introduced in September 2000 with drives and media scheduled to ship in late

Tap a steady stream of power and keep the credits rolling by plugging your portable
DVD player into a standard cigarette lighter outlet or into the in-seat power
system now available on most major airlines. Unfortunately the battery life
in portable DVD players keeps cutting them short. So, we set out to solve
the problem with a full featured solution - the iGo Portable DVD Auto/Air Adapter.
And since battery life on these little movie machines lasts less than the length
of many flicks, we think they come up a little short. Just reel in the power
of an auto or an airplane with our Auto/Air DVD adapter and you ll always be in

The prospect of consumer digital versatile disk
(DVD) recorders highlights the challenge of protecting copyrighted video content
from piracy. Second, it is desirable that this copy-control information (CCI)
survive both digital-to-analog and analog-to-digital conversions. Several
initiatives have been launched to find technical mechanisms by which a player
can identify recordable media, identify whether a compliant recorder has produced
the disk, and distinguish between original ROM discs and piracy stamped copies.
Another potential weak point in the system is in the protection against copies
being made on noncompliant recorders. The issue of watermark removal is often
addressed in watermarking literature and remains an important concern [9].
